At the heart of Icon are game dynamics, encouraging participation through points and leaderboards. Every Icon player can ask a time-limited question. Participants submit answers then vote on all the answers through pairwise comparison- a quick and easy way to rate one answer against another and bubble the best to the top of the answers leaderboard. When the time’s up the authors of the top answers and the top participants earn prize points. The top players or “Geniuses” are highlighted for everyone to see.

- Invite-only sites Participants can enter with any email address- as long as they have a personal invite from a current site member.
- Public sites No need for an invitation; everyone’s welcome. Sites are accessible by a public URL.
- Private company network A private work environment restricted to a single business email domain (e.g. @mycompany.com).
