Innovation Barrier Framework
Innovation barriers exist in all organizations. As innovation practitioners, our job is to identify them and take actions to remove them. In this workshop, we’ll introduce our innovation barriers framework. Not only will this session prompt you to think about existing barriers and how to overcome them, but it will also prepare you to deliver the same workshop in your organization to help your team learn how to overcome obstacles.
Session 2: 10:15am - 11:00am
Demystifying External Crowdsourcing
Truly innovative companies take advantage of every opportunity to improve and expand on their successes. Why then do so few companies engage in the practice of external crowdsourcing even though they clearly see the value in engaging their internal crowd? In this session, we will explore the barriers to and misconceptions around engaging people outside your company, and explore how you can overcome these to unlock the value of external crowdsourcing.
Scaling Your Program For Maximum Leverage
How can you make innovation a repeatable process that enables more efficient business practices across the company? This session will explore the key success factors when scaling your ideation program to increase adoption while maintaining quality results that drive value for your organization.

There are many ways to ignite the creative process – from methods to motivators to catalysts to thinking techniques and more. This session will be a fun, wide-open sharing and exploration of proven practices and ideas to stoke the community creativity engine. Join us to find new ways to elicit creative thinking and drive ideas that can truly transform your organization.
Session 3: 11:15am - 12:00pm
How To Get Rewards & Recognition Right
A wise customer of Spigit once observed, “Rewards and recognition are the hardest things to get right.” There are many variables to consider: prize money, and if so, how much or little? Non-monetary awards, and if so, what is appealing to everyone? Random drawing rewards to encourage simple engagement like early ideation, commenting, and voting, and if so, how often? How do we treat contract employees, or union employees? In this session, we share common challenges faced, and successful practices for overcoming them and incentivising engagement.
Measuring Results and Business Impact
Let’s face it….tracking the projected and/or realized value of implemented ideas can be a challenge. That said, can you imagine anything more important for your ideation program than being able to tangibly demonstrate business impact? As with many challenges worth surmounting, the good news is there are ways to ease the pain and ensure credible reporting of the value you and your colleagues are driving, including leveraging Spigit. Join this session to discuss not only process and automation, but all the ins, outs, and nuances of measuring the impact of ideas.
Tracking the Implementation Process
Successful innovation goes beyond ideation and typically is measured by developing, testing, and ultimately implementing high value opportunities. The best way to avoid inaction is to continue the challenge momentum by actively tracking the progress of ideas while measuring key statistics in each stage of the process. Join this session to learn best practices around idea tracking.
Agile, Design Thinking, and More: Expanding Your Program by Supporting Existing Business Practices
Now that you’ve got your collaborative innovation program off the ground and running successfully, what’s next? In this session we explore how practitioners can expand, identify, approach, and support one or more of the growing number of enabling practices that firms have embraced as they seek transformation. Enabling practices include: agile, design thinking, customer journey mapping, and lean. Workshop participants will be provided with conversation-starter worksheets that they can use within their own organizations to pursue this line of inquiry.
